| UPDATE: I guess the bouncing graphics you see here were a little much for the original piece. Given the number of emails asking if vagabondsurf.com was closing down, I thought I'd take this moment to assure you that we are staying around. |
| To put it another way, I'm retiring from "Surfing As 1000 Pound Gorilla". The actual activity is great, but all the crap on the land, the "culture", the judgements, the commerce, the "Blue Crush"...I've had enough of that. |
| Marketing is designed to create an illusion in the consumer mindset. The fact is, if you aren't on a level of a Kelly Slater, Joel Tudor, Andy Irons, or Laird Hamilton by the time you are 20 years old, you never will be - unless you just flat lay your life on the line to get glory photos. Is it worth it? And even then, there can only be so many... |
| Have you ever had the sneaky thought that you could have just as much fun on an air mat or a softboard? Ye Gods...that little Surfer Girl would never talk to you if you actually did that. Although you are probably closer in age to her mother... ;-). Time to have fun! |
