TALL CARDS, OLD DAYS
This is an old card, with lots of action. Surfing, paipos, and bodysurfing are all shown in the gentle waters of Waikiki. Air travel was a dream back then, ocean voyages the norm. the equipment shown in these images would make a modern wave rider cry in frustration if that was all that was available.
Not the best scans, but probably done for commerce rather than "the record." From the look I'd guess early to mid-1930's. Hawaii was still practically a foreign country at this point. My mother's family lived there then, when Waihiwa to Honolulu was an all day round trip, when boards were made of wood, when San Francisco to Honolulu was six days rather than 6 hours...
