HURRICANE ELIDA
END ZONE
When Hurricane Douglas started pumping in during the previous week, the best surfing was being done down at Malibu.  By the second or third day, people had snapped into gear, and everyone from Zuma to County Line had taken it up a notch. By the time these photos were taken, mid-Elida, the shortboarders at Leo Carrillo were dialed in.
What more can be said? Two hurricane swells, a lot of sun, the water was warm, and the surfing was great. Up the coast in Ventura and Santa Barbara the surf was lousy and the water cold. Eventually the waves went down, and everybody went back to their lives. Good surf will come again. For now these photos will do, and how about two lines from a song I heard...

"...bullets are like waves they only rearrange the sand
History turns upon the tide & not the deeds of man"
