CATCHING IT EMPTY
I managed to get myself back into the regular workforce just in time for summer, going against all trends and forecasts of economic doom and gloom. Don't worry though - the job is providing all the Doom and Gloom I can possibly handle. I took my particular situation on out of loyalty and friendship. I'd like to think I've learned my lesson, but I doubt it...

There is no saving grace for me this time, but at least the weather hasn't been that great. I finally got a chance to hit the beach one Satruday morning and was delighted to see clear skies at sunrise. School was freshly out for the summer, however, and that usually means a mass exodus to the beach,

What I found, much to my surprise, was a light crowd. This beach had nobody at all - the spot you see in the water in the photo above is a bird or something.
The surf wasn't anything special, but how often do you get to make the first tracks on the beach on a June Saturday after 9 a.m.? I got some sun, some surf, and some solitude. You can't see what twists and turns might lay just around the next bend, but once in a while, when you catch it empty, you can find that moment in the sun and get the rest of it off your back.
