| Time is running a bit short but should still remain for anyone who might want to take part in two of the largest bodysurfing contests of the summer in souther California. |
| Coming first is the Gillis Beach Bodysurfing Assn. Contest. This will take place on August 3, 2002, along the north side of the Manhattan Beach Pier. Applications can be downloaded at http://www.surffestival.org |

| WORLD BODYSURFING CHAMPIONSHIPS The other major event of the bodysurfing summer is the return of the WORLD BODYSURFING CHAMPIONSHIPS. Held annually in Oceanside, California, they are being put on by a private group this year after about 25 years of being run by the City. Dates for this year are August 16-18th.
